Sodium Hydroxide (Lye)
This is used to neutralize an acid to form salt and water.
In acid-base titration, the sodium hydroxide is used as a titrant added
from an base buret to a known quantity of the analyte (the unknown
solution) until the reaction is complete.
Knowing the volume of titrant added allows the determination of the concentration of the unknownusing the formula :
